Cambrón
A weather station for biodiversity
The Cambrón project located in Montecristi, Dominican Republic is one of the winners of the From Farm to Fork Programme ideas competition. The farm proposes to use the benefits of a weather station in agricultural production in the cultivation of bananas.
A weather station is a tool in favour of biodiversity, since it facilitates farm decision-making based on weather data. This type of action makes it possible to work towards precision agriculture by optimising resources and limiting impacts on ecosystems. A clear example is the use of water, since it contributes to the precise adjustment of irrigation, in the same way that it contributes to the management of fertilizer inputs because it determines the amount and the right moment to apply them.
